“Oxford University researchers have discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (symbol=Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.  These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles, called pillocks.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.  A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.  Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 to 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganisation in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact, Governmentium’s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganisation will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration.  This hypothetical quantity is referred to as a critical morass. When catalysed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium (symbol=Ad), an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium, since it has half as many pillocks but twice as many morons.”

One of the books around the topic of startup business I have read recently (or maybe that should read ‘consumed’, as I got through it cover-to-cover in a matter of hours) is “The Millionaire Fastlane” by M. J. DeMarco.

Before you say what I know you’re thinking: yes, I know it’s a pretty poor title but bear with me. Just about anyone who has read this snappy, fast-paced publication will vouch for me when I say that it can literally be life-changing.

Sounds like a bold statement, right? Well, that’s nothing compared to the opening statement of the book’s Introduction:

There’s a hidden road to wealth and financial freedom, a shortcut of blinding speed where you can achieve wealth in youthful exuberance over elder entropy. Yes, you don’t have to settle for mediocrity. You can live rich, retire four decades early, and live a life that most can’t.

DeMarco’s book is not an easy route to “setting up in business”, nor is it a “four hour work-week” guide to how to automate your online business using low-wage workers. It is an entire philosophy, a reality-check on what is important in life: the trinity of family, fitness and freedom. DeMarco says:

Money secures one agent of the wealth formula, freedom, which is a powerful guardian to wealth’s sibling ingredients: health and relationships.

I could not have put it better myself. Hands up who wants to be an entrepreneur in order to still be working a 40-hour week when they are 60 years old? Not me. Hands up who believes their pension will be worth anything by that time? I am not convinced of that either.

Whether your aspiration in starting up in business is to drive fast cars, live on a luxury liner, own the house of your dreams or simply not to have money worries, I would urge you to take a look at DeMarco’s site and read this book as soon as possible (no, I have no vested interest in DeMarco’s book sales) – it may well be a major catalyst for change in your business.
